Dr. Michelle Adams, P. Eng, PhD – Research Fellow
Dr. Michelle Adams is the former director of the Eco-Efficiency Centre and an Assistant Professor with the School for Resource and Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University. Michelle's research interest areas focus on long-term sustainability of businesses, industrial operations and the communities with which they interact. Emphasis is placed on the integration of eco-efficient policies and green technologies into modern business practices.
Professor Ray Côté – Senior Research Fellow
Ray Côté is a Professor Emeritus with the School for Resource and Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University. He is the Chair of the Nova Scotia Round Table on Environment and Sustainable Prosperity. Ray is also a member of the Board of Directors for Efficiency Nova Scotia Corporation and the Resource Recovery Fund Board. His interests have evolved from the management of chemicals and wastes to industrial ecology. He is co-editor of several books including, "Controlling Chemical Hazards", "The Industrial Ecology Reader", "Business Meets the Environmental Challenge", and "Linking Industry and Ecology: A Question of Design".
Professor Côté is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Cleaner Production, a columnist for the Journal of Industrial Ecology, and a regular contributor to the Burnside News. Professor Côté continues multidisciplinary research into industrial parks as eco-systems. Prior to joining Dalhousie, Professor Côté worked with Environment Canada for many years.
Penny Slight, B.Sc. (Biology), B.Sc. (Environmental Studies) – Program Manager
Penny is the full-time Program Manager with the Eco-Efficiency Centre (EEC). She previously worked at the Centre as a project officer, in an internship initiated under the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy Program, beginning in January 2006. Penny has a B.Sc. (Honours) in Biology from Carleton University and B.Sc. in Environmental Studies from Saint Mary’s University.
As a Program Manager, Penny is responsible for helping to develop and organize workshops and events hosted by the Centre, helping to maintain the day-to-day operations of the Centre, and helping to provide ongoing support and guidance to students employed at the Centre. To assist the EEC in maintaining relationships with local businesses and business groups, Penny sits on the Greater Burnside Business Association’s Board of Directors.
Pablo Quinonez, BEng, MBA, MREM - Project Manager
Pablo Quinonez is a Master of Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering as well as a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), both earned in Colombia. He has over seven years of managerial experience and has undertaken extensive research in GHG emissions management and sustainable development programs in the private sector.
Pablo joined the Eco-efficiency Centre in 2010 to manage eco-efficiency projects in the business sector.
