Workshops are 2 to 3 hours in length, no cost and open to all small to medium-sized enterprise owners or members. The workshops include presentations on the EEC's carbon footprint calculator and on industrial symbiosis practices. Following the presentations a networking or "speed-dating" session takes place in order to create commercial opportunities, increase profit and boost economic development.

Recent Success Stories
Halifax
On February 9th, 2010 the Eco-Efficiency Centre co-hosted a resource management and synergy workshop with the Greater Halifax Partnership and the HRM Solid Waste Resource team. This workshop was attended by 22 industry representatives and was a great success! Participants were excited about the information they were presented with on waste management, carbon footprinting and on the National Industrial Symbiosis Program (NISP). Many connections were made and a couple examples of materials identified for exchange or sharing were: wood pallets, steel scraps and building space.
Colchester
On December 3rd 2009, the Colchester Regional Development Authority (CoRDA) co-hosted a resource management and synergy workshop with the Eco-Efficiency Centre and the Colchester Waste/Resource Management team. The event was attended by 15 SME owners and members. Over 31 materials for exchange were identified such as wood pallets, warehouse space, waste oils and office supplies. Participants were enthusiastic about the event and were happy not only with the information presented but with the connections made with other like-minded, environmentally conscious yet business savvy individuals.
Ken Smith, Winery Manager from Andrew Peller Limited commented “without this forum I would never have met the individuals who can help us change our business. In less than an hour you can let 20 others to know what you need, or what you want to dispose. The rewards can be huge!”
