Since 1993, a regular column on environmental issues has appeared in the Burnside News, a monthly newspaper for the Burnside Industrial Park community. 'The Burnside Ecosystem', has contributed to informing people in Burnside about the environment and the implications of their business practices on the environment. The 160+ columns written to-date have covered topics such as international, national, provincial, and municipal policies and regulations, economic instruments, technologies which might influence a business's operation, and local environmental success stories.
Professor Ray Côté, Senior Fellow of the Eco-Efficiency Centre in Burnside and Professor Emeritus with the School for Resource and Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University, writes the column (email: rcote@dal.ca); occasionally, guest contributors are also featured. Below is a listing of columns published since June of 1998. New columns will be added, as they become available, so stay tuned!
The Burnside Ecosystem columns are re-published on our website with consent from the Burnside News. For many years, the Burnside News has had an environmental emphasis in its reporting and educational efforts. The Burnside News is published by the Transcontinental Specialty Publications.
